Varvara Mashanskaya is a filmmaker and visual artist born in Moscow to a Russian-Jewish family.

In n 2023 she completed her Bachelor's degree at Haute école d’art et de design (HEAD), specialising in film directing, and in 2025 she completed her Master's degree at Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola. She is currently based in Europe.
